A busy day in the Tarn-et-Garonne

During the summer holidays, the Bosc cave extends its opening hours from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Take advantage of a beautiful morning to explore the 200 meters of underground galleries, discovered in 1936 by a local caving club. What is special about this archaeological treasure? The superb concretions, stalactites and stalagmites, formed by the flow of water through the rock for millennia. With a little luck, you will see some bats, the queens of the place. At the exit of the cave, the children will be able to extend the experience in a playground imagined by the community of communes of Quercy on the theme of speleology. In summer, the cave offers a picnic formula made up of local products, to be enjoyed on the terrace or in the heart of the adjoining forest.

Otherwise, continue your journey in the narrow and shaded streets of the village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, located just three kilometers from the cave, to find a table on one of the plots of the medieval town. Here, you will admire the facades of the stone houses and the mullioned windows, which have not aged a bit since the Middle Ages. From the village, treat yourself to a timeless nautical getaway aboard a canoe in the Aveyron gorges, which offer an idyllic landscape where birdsong reigns. To find these small boats, all you have to do is go to the banks, below Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, where five rental professionals are present on either side of the river, or in the center of the city, on the town hall square, where a sixth sign will offer you to rent canoes.

Practical information: Grotte de Bosc, Le Bosc de la Cam, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val. Open every day, from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. in July and August.
Prices: from 5 to 8 euros. Online reservations. Canoe information.
