1 Vald

Vald, whose real name is Valentin Le Du, will be touring festivals this summer and concert halls next fall to defend his latest album,V, already platinum disc, which has sold more than 100,000 copies since its release last February, thus signing the best start of the year. 3 CHS

The Marseille rapper SCH, whose real name is Julien Schwarzer, one of the only representatives of French rap to have given voice to the last Victoires de la Musique (highlighting in particular the absence of big names from the French rap scene among the winners) , toured the Zéniths de France. His last album, JVLIVS II, double platinum disc, was one of the most listened to albums in 2021. already scheduled for July 22… 2023!

4 Orelsan

Elected male artist of the year at the last Victoires de la Musique, Orelsan came back strong in 2021 with Civilization, already soon diamond disc. The rapper from Caen defends the best-selling album of 2021 on stage for an anthology tour that will last until next December: given the success of the first dates, Orelsan recently announced new dates next fall in Rouen, Caen, Rennes, Brussels, Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lille or even La Défense Arena (Paris). To add to that: all the summer festivals where it will appear (Solidays, Francofolies, Vieilles Charrues, etc.) Hurry up – places are going fast!

5 Sexion d’Assaut

Initially scheduled for 2021, the event tour of Sexion d’Assaut has been postponed to 2022: the most famous French rap collective, led by Gims and Black M among others, is therefore making a comeback with great fanfare ten years after their second album for The Return of the Kings. The group announced that their new album would only be available in concert halls (in physical format therefore) until the end of the tour: in the age of streaming platforms, the release of this new album should logically make date(s), even if we can already expect to see pirate versions appear on the web…

6 Ninho

Ninho, king of streaming: his latest album, Jeffdouble platinum, is the most streamed album on Spotify in 2021 with more than 270 million streams in just over three months, surpassing JVLIVS II of CHS. Ultra prolific rapper – six mixtapes, three studio albums in four years – Ninho is the first French artist to exceed 200 certified titles. A record that he will defend on stage in Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Marseille, at La Défense Arena (Paris) on September 10 as well as in a slew of festivals.

7 PLK

After the flamboyant success of his first solo album, Polak (2018), which sold more than 200,000 copies, French rapper PLK – whose real name is Mathieu Pruski – came back with a bang in 2020 with a second album, Enna, rich of 18 titles. The album was re-released in an expanded edition last November – Enna Boost – with featurings from SCH or Oboy. Nowadays, Enna close to 300,000 copies sold. PLK invites its fans to meet in Strasbourg, Lille, Nantes, at the Zénith de Paris or at the Solidays festival.

8 dinosaurs

Rapper Dinos, from La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis), known for his flow dynamic and reputed to be one of the best lyricists of the current rap scene, returns to the stage after his tour We die soon to defend the album Taciturn, has been canceled due to the health crisis. Dinos will go on tour from March 18, including a date scheduled at the Zenith in Paris on March 22, which already promises a bubbling evening. Among other things, he will defend Stamina, mementos, a reissue of his latest album released last July.

9 Georgia

Known for his rap imbued with poetry and inhabited by great literary figures, Georgio has met with great success with his latest album, Sacred (2021) – followed by its reissue, fiery sky, last December – opus of 18 titles crossed by references to Rimbaud, Prévert or Romain Gary. A young rapper at the crossroads of musical and artistic influences who once again thrills his audience with his tour, after notably filling the Bataclan two evenings in a row last February.

10 naps

Naps, the rapper behind the hit of 2021 The Kiffance, remained at the top of the most listened to titles in France for no less than ten weeks and streamed nearly 150 million times, logically chose to rename his tour The Kiffance Tower. Next spring, the French revelation of the last NRJ Music Awards will take up residence in the largest cities in France: Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Lille, Strasbourg and of course Paris for a unique date at the Zénith de Paris on May 25, 2022.

The rap group from Yvelines, founded in 2017 and which initially made a name for itself thanks to videos published on YouTube, will be in concert in March at the Zeniths of Toulouse and Lille, before being on the poster for the festival Solidays this summer. The trio’s latest album, Legend (2021), was rather well received: 47Ter also released a reissue of the album last November with seven new tracks.

12 And the rappers, in all this?

French rap is certainly mainly occupied by male artists, but female rappers should have a voice in spite of their lower visibility, with the exception of stars like Aya Nakamura or Shay. It is therefore an opportunity to discover, for example, the Franco-Malagasy rapper Chilla and her first two albums, Karma (2017) and MŪN (2019). An artist known for her committed texts – she had for example signed a piece entitled #Balancetonpig – and his hard-hitting freestyles.

Among the other rising figures expected on stage in 2022, we note, among others, the urban pop artist Poupie, who will come to defend his first album child king at the Cigale as well as at the Olympia and in several festivals, or the rapper Laeti, revelation of season 2 of the series Valid (Franck Gastambide, Canal+), which will notably be at La Cigale on June 2 before touring concert halls throughout France.
