The International Opus Corsica Festival pays tribute to pianist Brigitte Engerer

This Festival was initiated in 2020 from the meeting of pianist Laura Sibella and Xavier Torre. Porto-Vecchiaise graduate of the National Conservatory of Music in Paris with honors in the class of Brigitte Engerer also joined the Juillard School in New York and the prestigious academy of virtuosos OYPI in Italy. Winner of numerous international prizes, she participates in major festivals. She is now a professor at the Conservatory of Corsica, artistic director and founder of Opus Corsica. The artists
Marie-Laure Garnier: Soprano
Coming from Guyana Marie-Laure Garnier was trained at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris in the class of Malcolm Walker. Victoire de la Musique Révélation Lyrique 2021, winner of numerous competitions, HSBC Festival Lyrique Aix-en-Provence, Fondation Royaumont, Prix Voix des Outremer, Révélation Classique de l’ADAMI. She sings at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, at the Philharmonie de Paris, Oxford Lieder Festival, Madrid Auditorium Reina-Sofia, Montreal Salle Bourgie, London Wigmore Hall and at the Bolshoi in Moscow.
Jean-François Marras: Tenor
Jean-François Marras begins music with traditional Corsican singing and guitar. He turns to lyrical singing and begins to study with the baritone Jean-Paul Grisoni. He entered the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris where he joined the class of Chantal Mathias in 2013. He joined the Academy of the National Opera of Paris in September 2016 and from then on he began his international career. Among his recent engagements, he is Sir Bruno Roberton (I Puritani) at the Opéra national de Paris, Lenski (Eugène Onegine) at the Opéra de Massy.

Varduhi Yeritsyan: Pianist
Born in Armenia in a family of musicians, her father and her mother are pianists, she studied in a specialized school, from which she graduated at 16 with the first prize. She then entered the National Conservatory of Music in Yerevan, Armenia, where she studied in particular with Mikhail Voskressenski and Viktor Karpovitch Merjanov. She continued her studies in France at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris in the class of Brigitte Engerer where she is currently pursuing her teaching career. She plays regularly in many French and international stages and has recorded several records.

Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt: Pianist
Guest of prestigious orchestras such as the Mariinsky Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev, the National Orchestra of Bordeaux-Aquitaine under the direction of Paul Danielle, the Sartenian pianist Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris in the class of Bruno Rigutto and at the Hochschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin in the class of Michael Endres. He performs in major festivals such as La Roque d’Anthéron, Piano Jacobins, Festival Chopin de Nohant and has just received five stars from Classica in 2021 for his CD Correspondances under the Klarthe Label.

André Paoli: Drummer
Ajaccien, drummer, multi-instrumentalist with an international career, André Paoli, 1st Prize of the Conservatory of Nice, is a fan of the great Jazz formations. Professor at the Conservatory of Corsica, he transmits his passion for the art of Jazz. Artistic director for various projects including the Jazz Band of Corsica, he is also the drummer of the Grand Orchester Monte-Carlo Big Band. He had the opportunity to play, record and write orchestrations and arrangements for musicians such as Patrick Fiori, Jean Menconi, JM Jafet, JJ Gristi, JP Marcellesi, David Reinhard, Richard Manetti, François Arnaud.

Jérémie Vuillamier: Pianist
Young musical talent from Balagne, Jérémie Vuillamier, after passing through the Conservatoire de Corse in the class of Laura Sibella, studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. He obtained his Diploma of Musical Studies at the Lyon Conservatory in the class of Roger Sala. He accompanies several prestigious Corsican groups, including A Filetta for their 40th anniversary. Winner of the Opus Corsica Oru 2021 prize, he made the musical arrangements for the concert event of the Festival and performed on stage with singer-songwriter Felì and pianist Laura Sibella. Brilliant arranger he participates in many concerts.
