The return of the music festival season in France announces a period full of celebrations and good energy!

Spring is just around the corner, and sunny days are on the way. The smiles return to the lips, the colors to the cheekbones and the sun illuminates the blue sky. The days are getting longer, and the atmosphere is relaxing… At the same time, certain groups are appearing on social networks, and notifications are starting to announce the return of such a special season in France, that of the festivals of music !

1. We love Green

We Love Green is the chill festival, accessible and particularly pleasant for young Parisians! Located in the Bois de Vincennes since 2016, the festival brings together each year, the first weekend of June, the greatest French-speaking artists as well as some international headliners.

This year, the legendary rock band Gorillaz will take on this role! To celebrate their 20-year career, the group will meet here for their only Parisian date.

You can also find the best of French hip-hop on stage with the presence of PNL, SCH (holder of the best-selling rap album in France in 2021), Laylow, Dinos and Angèle. Finally, you can enjoy the sublime voice of Jorja Smith, who will perform her master class “Blue Light”.

2. Solidays

This is certainly the most famous music festival in Île de France, or even in France! Celebrated every year since 1999, with the aim of raising as many funds as possible to help research in the fight against AIDS, but also to help young people, the Solidays are THE benchmark for French-speaking festivals!

Concerning the programming, as always, the Longchamp racecourse festival offers you the best of French music. First of all, find Ninho, Orelsan, Damso, Niska or even PLK, as well as all the other big names in French rap. In addition, you will be able to enjoy the concerts of M, Justice, and will even have the chance to see a mythical group from the 2000s reform, that of… the Black Eyed Peas!

3. Lollapalooza

The world festival, which links cities like Chicago or Buenos Aires, will take place in Paris for a new edition full of surprises! During the third weekend of July, discover a crowd of the best artists in the world at the Longchamp racecourse.

Thus, you will be able to enjoy the performances of Imagine Dragons, David Guetta, A$AP ROCKY, but also more urban artists such as Josman or Guy2Bezbar. Several musical styles, therefore, scattered on several stages through this great music festival.

4. Rock in the Seine

It is at the Domaine National du Parc de Saint Cloud that the next edition of Rock en Seine will be held, as every year, on the last weekend of August. If, as its name suggests, the festival was primarily intended for rock music, it has been diversifying for a long time.

Indeed, although the festive and fraternal atmosphere of rock is still felt as in its beginnings, the programming is multiple. Thus, find in particular Stromae who will come to interpret the biggest titles of his latest album, Multitude. For this new edition, you can also rediscover the Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala and even Jamie xx!

5. Art Rock Festival

Head to Brittany now, and more particularly the city of Saint-Brieuc to discover one of the best music festivals in France! A multidisciplinary event, presenting numerous artistic performances (music, dance, theatre, visual and digital art, etc.), the Art Rock festival takes place every year on the first weekend of June.

This year, find the best variety artists of the French scene, such as Clara Luciani and Gaël Faye. You will also be able to discover on stage the best of the current urban scene, thanks to Gazo, Josman or Laylow.

It is not far from Nantes, in the town of Clisson that “the festival of the century” is being prepared, according to its boss, Ben Bardaud. Indeed this year, the Hellfest will bring together more than 350 artists over ten days, for an unprecedented French festival.

After having had to deal with numerous cancellations from rock bands due to the epidemic, the festival was able to find solutions! Thus, this year’s line-up will feature bands like Judas Priest, Deftones, Deep Purple, Korn, Megadeth and Dropkick Murphys on the first weekend, as well as Scorpions, Gun’s and Roses, and even Metallica which will close the festival!

7. Moths

In place since 2001, the one nicknamed P2N is known to be “the biggest music festival in France in the smallest place”. Indeed, it is in Saint Laurent de Cuves, in Normandy, that the festival takes place every year.

For this new edition of “Butterflies of the Night”, you will find artists such as Julien Doré, Vladimir Cauchemar, Macklemore or Angèle. A heterogeneous scene, therefore, so that everyone can find what they are looking for.

8. Doll Festival

Spreading out from mid-June to mid-July in Vendée, near Puy du Fou, the Poupet festival is a real benchmark in the field. Indeed, the one who represents one of the longest festivals in France knows how to occupy his festival-goers! This year’s lineup will leave no visitor behind.

9. The Old Plows

This is certainly the most famous festival in France! Les Vieilles Charrues has been a classic of the French festive scene for 30 years. And for this thirtieth anniversary, the Breton organizers did not do half measures regarding the line-up!

Find artists of all kinds on different stages, such as the grandiose DJ Snake, but also Orelsan, Angèle, Vianney, Clara Luciani, Juliette Armanet, Stromae, Bob Sinclar, Rilès or Vladimir Cauchemar…

10. The Francofolies

Discover a bold, popular and creative program for the next Francofolies de La Rochelle! In the middle of July, you will find the greatest artists in the world who will come to play their most famous titles, in a jovial and recreational atmosphere.

11. Nimes Festival

Head south and the beautiful city of Nîmes, to let the artists enter the arena! It is in this historic monument, witness to the passage of the Roman Empire, that French and international artists have performed every summer since 1997!

In this music festival lasting more than a month, in the heart of summer, you will find a diverse program. So, choose your tickets for Orelsan, Gorillaz, PNL, or for atypical concerts, such as that of the symphony orchestra resuming the soundtrack of the film Gladiator.

12. Garorock

Located in Marmandes, the Garorock is a music festival in France whose pop rock, electro and techno atmospheres attract more and more participants every year. It must be said that its family atmosphere is quite appreciable, for all generations and all types of public.

During the last weekend of June, enjoy the performance of DJ Snake who will ignite the main stage throughout the night. 14. Alsace Wine Fair

It is during the last two weekends of July that you find the Alsace Wine Fair every year! This music festival in France is also a gastronomic festival, based on sharing and an immersive experience combining a trade fair, a showcase for Alsace wines and an eclectic musical festival.

Created in 1948, this fair is one of the largest in France, and offers a group of international artists every year! This year, the headliners will obviously be Damso and PLK, while you can also find Johnny’s voice with Jean-Baptiste Guegan, as well as Angèle and Julien Doré, for a more peaceful atmosphere.

15. Green Cabaret

The Cabaret Vert, in reference to the eponymous poem by Arthur Rimbaud, has taken place since 2005 in Charleville-Mézières, the third weekend of August. And this year, the festival is back in force, with a new high-flying edition, and intends to honor eclectic musical styles, ranging from rock to French variety, including rap and electro. .

Thus, find Stromae, Eddy de Pretto, SCH and Orelsan, just like Liam Gallagher, the singer of the group Oasis. In the open air and in a relaxed and family atmosphere, you can stroll through the middle of the stages enjoying the stands of street food with your loved ones!

16. Burning

To close this selection of the best music festivals in France, we are going to… Belgium! Indeed, Lièges hosts the Ardentes urban festival every year, in a crazy atmosphere and with an ever more advanced line-up. The first weekend of July, you will discover at a lower price urban artists of all categories, and from all walks of life.

Thus, rediscover particularly generous artists on stage such as Stromae or Orelsan, attend the reformation of Sexion d’Assaut, or the artistic work of Tyler the Creator. To top it off, artists like Ninho, Damso, or even Ferg will come to feed the different stages, for a total show.
