Saint-Florentin, Beine, Villefargeau, Armeau: the Yonne runs everywhere this weekend

It’s called being spoiled for choice. Running enthusiasts have plenty to enjoy this weekend of May 14 and 15, since no less than four events are planned in the department. But all are very different from each other.

For the good cause

Villefargeau. The Sporting and Cultural Association of Villefargeau (ASCV) organizes Les strides villefargeaulaises, Saturday: adults can run 7 km, half on paths and on asphalt.

The profits from the event will be donated to the association Pour le smile des petits princes, which organizes leisure activities for children with multiple disabilities at the medical-educational center in Auxerre.

Several activities are therefore offered: the 7 km adult race (€5, departure at 9.30 a.m.), a 1.5 km children’s race (€1, departure at 10 a.m.), a 6 km walk (€3, departure at 9 a.m.) and a 10 km walk (€3, departure at 8:30 a.m.).

“It’s modeled on the Pink Strides: there is no ranking, no timing, it’s free pace”, specifies Gérard Nimsgern, the treasurer of the association. “This is the first year that we have organized this: we are well aware that we are not at the top! But we learn from our mistakes, and we are thinking of putting the cover back on.”

For team spirit

Saint Florentine.“Fait de l’athlétisme” is registered on the official calendar of races outside the Yonne stadium. It is on the track of the Jean-Lancray stadium in Saint-Florentin that the departures and arrivals of the event organized by the Yonne Athletic Club – ES du Florentinois will take place, Saturday afternoon from 4:30 p.m.

It will be contested on a 5 km loop around the Perrets stadium. Individual male and female rankings will be established over 5, 10 and 15 km, with several possibilities: running solo therefore, or in teams over 10 and 15 km. The distribution of the relays can be mixed (2 x 5 km; 3 x 5 km; 5 + 10 km).

Registration is possible on site (medical certificate required).

At the same time, between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., five discovery workshops (running, jumping and throwing) will be open to young people born between 2011 and 2016 (free).

Without time or classification

armour. The Intrépides d’Armeau mountain bike club is offering the first edition of its semi-nocturne on Saturday. It includes a nature run of 15 km. “But people are free to leave between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. and it’s not timed,” explains Guillaume Chicouard, the president. “Since 1997, we have been used to organizing nights or events on Sunday mornings. We reach around 300 people. There are a lot of people who appreciate it, because it allows them to come and prepare for a competition without the time pressure, without getting hurt.”

This formula also exempts from heavy constraints. “We are a small association and the obligations are already increasingly heavy, even without a competitive aspect”, underlines Guillaume Chicouard.

The event is expanded with a 15 km walk and a 25 km mountain bike course. Registrations are taken on site. The meeting is fixed on the grounds of the associations.

For specialists

Well.Another race on the official calendar: Sunday morning, the Chablisien trail returns to Beine, with two 7 and 15 km routes alternating between vineyards and undergrowth, “greatly inspired by the last edition organized in 2019”, specifies Emmanuel Lefay, the president.

In 2019, more than 500 runners took part in this timed event with rankings.

Registration is possible on site this Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, up to 30 minutes before departure.

“This trail is above all a family celebration with inflatable structures provided for children as well as a musical atmosphere”, adds the president.

Departures will be given at 10 a.m. for the 15 km and at 10:30 a.m. for the 7 km. Information on 06.43.49.19.32.
