Children also have the right to have fun and celebrate. This is why the Arenas open their doors for an afternoon with many fun activities. Young people from Nîmes will be able to learn about bullfighting cultures through a toreo de salon with squares, an encierro and an abrivado designed especially for them. A bullfighting library stand for young people as well as drawing and storytelling workshops will be offered to them, among other things, throughout the day.

Pégoulade and parade

This traditional parade launches the festivities. This year, the Pégoulade “makes its cinema with a dozen floats that will pay homage to the seventh art, from Harry Potter to Star Wars. Dancers, performers, associations and schools of the City will rush around the Ecusson to spread joy and jubilation in the city center.

An unmissable tradition on the last day of Feria, the Rocio parade features 200 dancers and riders participating in the Rocio procession between Sevillana and castanets.

Jousting tournaments

Come admire and cheer on the best jousters in the area with the Lance Graulenne. Perched on their blue and red boats, they will compete armed with their spears with the sole objective of bringing down their opponent. Before the confrontation, watch the traditional parade from Avenue Jean-Jaurés.

Encierro is a Spanish term literally meaning “enclosure” and designating the route of the bulls from the corral* to the Arena.

*The corral is a set of buildings specially constructed to receive the batches of bulls before the races.

Then go to the Espace Toro, a privileged place open to the neophyte public during the Feria, in which the bullfighting clubs share their passion with you and offer educational workshops (dressing bullfighting costumes, presentation of cavalry breeding, the use of scarves…) Bullfighting will no longer hold any secrets for you…Olé!

Meet at the Temple of Diana for the second edition of this moment devoted to theater with shows specially designed for the event.

A real meeting place for bullfighting traditions and other traditional games.

Bullfighting shows – bercerradas – during which the most courageous apprentice bullfighters will have the opportunity to challenge 2 cows and 1 calf – are offered in the relaxing setting of the Bosquet.

Come and learn about bullfighting culture from every angle. Throughout the day, find the bercerradas.
In the evening, don’t miss the traditional Toro swimming pool.

“Party, Feria and Fiesta”

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its creation and the 70th anniversary of the Feria de Nîmes, the Musée des Cultures Taurines opens its doors on the occasion of its anniversary exhibition.
The theme of this exhibition explores the theme of festivities linked to the bull.
From the festo du biou to the Feria, from the arena to the street, from the guinguettes to the bodegas, this exhibition attempts to outline a history of the festivals linked to the bullfighting cultures and invites the visitor to immerse themselves in the heart of the festival, over the whole of a cultural area which extends from the Camargue to Spain via the South-West.

A joyful and playful exhibition that will allow Aficionados to remember past Ferias Nîmoises and the general public to decipher the highlights and developments of the festival.

Throughout the course, numerous nods to the museum’s past exhibitions will highlight the history of the collection and exhibitions of this unique museum in France, dedicated to the bull in all its components.

Posters, photographs, works of art but also trinkets, musical instruments or costumes… the different facets of the bullfighting festival are exhibited, accompanied by a specific route dedicated to children.
