15 17 “Who’s the baddest?’. Makala has got into the habit of haranguing the public present at his concerts with this question. Like a boxer in front of the crowd. A ritual that says a lot about his mentality. On his confidence and his assurance too.

Leader of a booming Swiss rap scene, Makala has forged a solid reputation over the years. That of a rapper with incomparable charisma and an uncompromising MC. That of a showman capable of igniting any stage and any audience as well. Because when he launches, solo or with his team of XTRM Boyz, everything becomes fire around him with a rap archi mastered. Sure of his strength and his destiny, everything in his rap is made to advance towards horizons where other rappers don’t even dare to look.

Along the way there are already four albums and many hits. Ginger Juice. King of Florida. Hitman Go. Big Boy Mak. Most recently BOSS. So many scattered bangers that allowed Makala to mark his style and infuse into the minds of his audience. The style of non-style. The choice to resemble only oneself and to assert oneself with sincerity. Each project is meticulously worked on. Texts, sound, placements and visuals. Access to his music is not instantaneous and requires some listening. But as soon as you find the key, a whole universe opens up to you.

Three years after “Radio Suicide”, a critically acclaimed album, he is back today with Chaos Kiss. Embrace the chaos within you and take charge of your destiny. This is basically the line of conduct that Makala has set for this project. An album full of contrasts in which we navigate through the rapper’s moods. Between incisive flows and more sung placements. Between force of words and second degree / arrogance. As usual, nothing is left to chance and like its predecessor, this Chaos Kiss should be enjoyed over time and carefully dissected. History to capture all the punchlines. Enter references. To feel the power of the words.

We find on it his Swiss relatives (Daejmyi and Mairo) and a natural link establishes with a past scene of which he is the legitimate heir via the invitation made to Hill G to accompany him on “Roger That”. And then there’s Varnish the Pool. The one that brings the perfect contrast to the fire spit by Makala. His brother from the swimming pool. An alliance proven over the years which today reaches a perfect intensity.

Makala is a bit of all that. The best way to really discover him is to take the time to listen to him because there aren’t that many artists like him anymore. Artists who do not compromise on anything. Who don’t do everything for the glory or the streams. He will inevitably reach an icon status through determination, through his charisma and thanks to his talent. And that, too few are still able to boast.

“Fuck everything is the game plan”.
