“The nerve of these cabbages! They invite me to their place, they let me know at the last minute… Even if I had wanted to, my diary is already full of appointments! 4:00 p.m.: whining about my fate, 4:30 p.m.: anxiety and depression, 5:00 p.m.: figuring out how to overcome starvation; don’t give anyone the idea, 5:30 p.m.: belly dancing, 6:30 p.m.: dinner with me, there’s no way I’m canceling again! 7:30 p.m.: fight against disgust with myself… I’m booked. Well of course I could push back the disgust at 9 p.m. and finish in time to go to bed, count the sheep and gently dive into madness… but I have nothing to wear!”
But my dear Grinch, if you continue, you’re going to get some panties! La Culottée will let nothing pass.

Line-up of the evening

• The Culotte
Born in June 2012 with the desire to offer a mixed space for LGBTQ+ and innovative musical performances, La Culottée brings together an open and not shy audience, around a meticulous musical program and a cheeky atmosphere… Oscillating between different registers of electronic music, electronica, dark disco, cold-wave, techno or even voodoo-electro… calling on djs, producers and musicians, each Culottée party carries the requirement of a strong musical identity, federating around the energy which characterizes it and which it defends: that which makes dance in unity and intoxicating melody until the early morning…
In 2022, La Culottée celebrates its 10th anniversary, and promises a great series of events to celebrate this anniversary as it should be…

• The Populists aka Yan Wagner
First, Yan Wagner and The Populists should not be confused. The artist’s two projects are quite distinct. Songwriter, singer and pop musician under Yan Wagner, he is also brilliant as a composer, producer and studio man under the pseudonym The Populists. Since 2014 and the release of his first maxi, Soft Power, on Space Factory (label of the eminent David Carretta), the powerful and energetic recipe of The Populists never stops infiltrating other territories. He navigates with ease from dark disco to rave, from new beat to electrofunk, producing a strong and clear result, and therefore remains in total focus with the EBM revival which has been touring Europe for a few years. 2019 sees the simultaneous release of two important records for him: first a new beat remix of the Parisian group Bagarre (“Le Gouffre””), played in clubs for a long time by many influential DJs. Then, the third (digital) EP of The Populists entitled Bakchich does not deviate from the dance + conscious trajectory of the producer. It is published by the unmissable Zone, a French techno brand created by The Hacker and Gesaffelstein. All these elements added together make The Populists a perfect formula, mixing past, present and future of electro, always with the most humble and concrete objective in mind: to give dancers back the place they deserve and to give meaning to a music that is too often deprived of it.

• Bonnie Spacey
At the crossroads between rock, techno and dark disco, Marseille-based DJ/producer Bonnie Spacey has been rocking dance floors for over 8 years. Inspired by the musical curiosity of her guitarist father, who introduced her to Jimmy Hendrix and all the rock legends, she perfected her musical culture by practicing the guitar and the piano for years. It was during a live performance by Miss Kittin and The Hacker at the beginning of the millennium that she discovered electronic music: it was love at first sight. She released her first single “Don’t” in 2019. Since then, she has accumulated releases on labels such as Slow Motion, Jane Musica, Slow Cycle, Emerald & Doreen, Hearec, and her own label Critical Monday: an independent label from electronic music somewhere between rock and techno, but definitely club oriented, which she founded in 2019.

• Corrina
Created in 1995, Corrine is today an iconic figure of the artistic, queer and festive French scene. He collaborates with many artists and develops his creations where electronic music and video occupy the foreground. It is with dancers, musicians, visual artists, videographers, costume designers or other technicians that he declines his universe. Gender, monstrosity, chaos, transformations, the night are all subjects that he likes to explore with his various collaborators… DJ, performer, actor, singer or even TV columnist, Corrine has established himself as a hybrid artist surprising and shocking…

• Trusspe
Trusspe likes to explore various styles, from electronica to techno and house, for sets that are often percussive and sprinkled with acid in a deep atmosphere. We find him in Paris on the events of the Culottée of which he is co-organizer and resident since 2018, as well as within the recent collective Traquenard created with 5 friends. He also regularly shares the turntables for the duo project Bêtises²!

• Ferui
Teen geek, Feroui downloads the DJ sets of the Pulp heroines, the clips of Aphex Twin and the crack of a DJ software. Fifteen years later, after releasing his Control track, programming the first editions of the Coucool festival and starting to play in a club, he finds himself in the water because of the covid. He then moved to Marseille with the hot USB key, loaded with strange and percussive house, bass mutations and comforting ambient.

Journey through musical aesthetics.
See you at the Chapiteau on August 13.
