Heritage Days 2022 at the Invalides – Army Museum: a rich program of discoveries

Heritage Days come to the Hôtel des Invalides on September 17 and 18, 2022! Not only will the army museum be free during these two days, but in addition to new visits and numerous workshops are offered to history enthusiasts.

On the occasion of the 39th edition of Heritage Days, I’Hotel invalid, which houses the Army museum; organizes visits, concerts and other workshops on September 17 and 18, 2022. A unique experience to live with the family, to learn all about the history of this Parisian cultural and military institution!

Located in the 7th district of Paris, the Hôtel des Invalides is a monument emblematic of the capital, whose construction was ordered by Louis XIV. The Sun King wanted to offer French soldiers wounded in battle a place to rest and live. This monument also houses a military necropolis, a cathedral and a museum dedicated to the Army and war.

This unique place has some cultural treasures and architectural to discover absolutely. In particular, you can admire the tomb of Napoleon I, a panoramic view of Paris from the lantern, exceptional frescoes painted on the dome of the monument…

Nowadays, the Invalides and the Army Museum regularly offer exhibitions, workshops, gigs, themed tours, games, of the shows and many other animations that highlight the monument and its rich history. What if you discovered all this during Heritage Days?

On the program of the 2022 Heritage Days of the Army Museum:

Continuous over the weekend

Activities for young people

    • Workshop : Learn to work with leather! (60 mins)
      Come and learn about leather restoration techniques as a family, then take action by practicing a few points on a piece that you will then take away (7-12 years and their parents).
      Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m.
    • Workshop : A soldier of Napoleon to dress
      Uniform, boots, helmet, take your pick! Meet on the Lafayette landing of the Army Museum to create your own uniform with your family.
      Saturday and Sunday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday September 17

  • Air Music Concert
    Introduction: reading of texts, evoking the sounds of textiles and those of musical instruments. Written by Catherine Goldman and starring actress Jessica Goldman accompanied by an Air musical instrument.
    Concert (40 mins)
    Saturday September 17 at 4:30 p.m.
    Location: Saint-Louis des Invalides Cathedral
    Reservation on site, the day of the concert (depending on the places available)
