“We have already played on the Baie-Saint-Paul wharf and not far from the river at the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, but we have rarely done that on a beach to our knowledge. Which is a bit special for women who come from a coastal province. We can’t wait, ”said singer and guitarist Katrine Noël during an interview.

The musician from New Brunswick was taking advantage of a few days off, since participating in the Festif! of Baie-Saint-Paul, before taking the road, Friday, for Quebec, with his accomplices Julie Aubé and Vivianne Roy.

Their last visit to Quebec dates back to the Imperial Bell, last November 24, during their series of shows of the opus Box letters, launched in full pandemic in February 2020.

“We don’t play very often in the Quebec region. We played a lot during the winters and it’s fun to be able to go there in summertime mode. It’s gonna be cool,” she remarked.

In festival mode since June, Les Hay Babies have participated in, among others, the Francos de Montréal, La Noce, the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac and Baie-Saint-Paul.

Katrine Noël admits to having an immense pleasure to perform again in front of a large audience.

“People are so happy to get out of the house and see live music. It’s stronger than before, and that, we feel it and we see it through the smiles, ”she mentioned.

The “fun” songs

After emphasizing Letterbox songs last winter, The Hay Babies have revamped their roster of songs for festival shows.

“We travel from one album to another. We focus on our songs that are the most fun to do, the ones that have played on the radio and people want to hear. We also do some mailboxes,” said Katrine Noël.

The Hay Babies, who will arrive with very colorful clothes and choreographies, are eager to discover the Cigale event.

“It’s always fun to open a new festival. We will be able to say to ourselves, if it becomes a big event, that we had played during the first edition, ”she dropped.

The Hay Babies girls plan to go see the City and Color show, on the GURU stage, a few hours after their appearance on stage.

“We have always been fans. We used to listen to that when we were in high school. We’ve never had the opportunity to see him in concert and it’s going to be a good time”, she remarked.

The very first edition of the Cigale event is held on Saturday and Sunday on the beach at Baie de Beauport. An event with 16 bands and artists performing on two stages, food, street trucks, microbrewery beers and the beach. Here are five performances not to be missed.
