The municipality of Sallen and the ADTLB are offering you a concert in the magnificent – and too little known – church of Sallen. Its particularity: it was built from 1782 to 1784, on the eve of the French Revolution, and represents a very fine example of the Baroque style, in particular its high altar.

Marie-Astrid ARNAL, piano, and Thierry BESNARD, clarinet, take you on a musical journey through dance. Many composers have written for dance or have been inspired by tunes from traditional dances. This is how we will hear works by Mozart, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Satie and Richard Galliano in particular.

Marie-Astrid ARNAL, after studying at the Perpignan Conservatory, continued her musical journey at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Musique in Paris with Pierre BARBIZET, Germaine MOUNIER and Gyorgy CZIFFRA.

His passion for ensemble music leads him to play with multiple partners:
the Instrumental Ensemble of Armor; the Wind Quintet from Brittany; in Duo Flute and Piano with Alain Ehkirch; in Sonata clarinet and piano with Thierry Besnard with the Trio du Ponant (soprano, clarinet, piano); 4 hands with pianist/composer Frédérique Lory and the Trio Lyris (violin, cello, piano).

Thierry BESNARD, after his clarinet studies at the Caen Conservatory in the class of Jean-Pierre Antoine, continued his musical career at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory in the class of Henri Druart, then he perfected his skills with Michel Arrignon. After obtaining a CA in clarinet in 1994, he became interested in orchestration under the guidance of Désiré Dondeyne who brought him a taste for assembling timbres and musical color.

Thierry Besnard plays regularly in Sonata with Marie-Astrid Arnal on the piano, he is a member of the clarinet quartet “les D’Anchés” and the Quintette à Vent de Bretagne. He plays regularly with the Orchester Régional de Normandie.

Thierry Besnard is a professor at the conservatory of Alençon.
