On the occasion of its “Summer Quarters”, Toulouse les Orgues invites music lovers and heritage lovers to moments of encounters around the Toulouse organs.
Between July 11 and September 17, a concert, recitals, musical readings and unusual visits are organized at the Temple du Salin, the Basilica of St-Sernin, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Daurade and the Cathedral of St-Etienne.
Let’s meet for these summer moments combining the pleasure of music and the original discovery of heritage treasures!
“MOZART’S REQUIEM CONCERT”:
Toulouse les Orgues continues its partnership with the Summer Academy of the Elements – Vocal Art Center Occitanie, as part of the Summer Quarters program. After the transcription for organ of the Requiem by Saint-Saëns, the transcription of Missa di Gloria by Puccini, it is Mozart’s Requiem which will be performed by a quartet of soloists, the Summer Academy of the Elements, William Fielding at the organ and under the direction of Claire Suhubiette.
“Tell me about the organ”: a short story in music and words
These musical readings tell stories of Toulouse organs: the organ perched in the swallow’s nest of the Saint-Étienne cathedral, the Cavaillé-Coll of the Saint-Sernin basilica… The stories written by Marie Baltazar will be narrated by the narrator. es Eric Vanelle and Laetitia Bos of the Théâtre du Grand Rond and accompanied in music by the organists Barbara Cornet and Guy-Baptiste Jaccottet.
Thirty minutes to board a time machine, immerse yourself in a new universe and get to know this mysterious instrument.
“CONCERTIVE VISIT”:
The organist Baptiste Genniaux invites you to dive into the world of the organ of the Basilica of Notre-Dame La Daurade. Both an artistic, musical and mechanical gem, each organ has its own personality and sounds. A discovery in two stages of this living heritage with a presentation in music and in words of the organ and a practical workshop around mini-instruments.
In partnership with the Espace Patrimoine (free, by reservation).
