Batch. At the Quercy Blanc Festival in Motntcuq and Castelnau-Montratier, classical music in all its forms

Roustem Saitkoulov, the pianist will perform at the Quercy Blanc Festival on August 16 in Castelnau-Montratier in the Lot.

The oldest classical music festival in rural areas of the Occitanie region, is preparing to open its 54th edition, the 12 August 2022. It’s about Quercy Blanc Festival, which takes place, fairly, within the departments of the Batch and Tarn-et-Garonne. Of the great names in classical music occurred there.

For Mireille Pinatel, daughter of the founder and president of the organizing association, the key to the longevity of this festival is continuity, within the team, the programming straddling two neighboring territories, while allowing admire the local heritage.

The festival team wishes to show all the diversity of classical music of yesterday and today. The programming was established by several, from proposals received and listened to, in connection with the musician, luthier, Pascal Quinson, programming coordinator.

A high-flying program

For this 2022 edition, all the artists programmed are unpublished within the festival. The places are chosen to offer the best acoustics to the spectators.

The opening will take place on Friday 12 August 2022, at 9 p.m., at the Carmelite Church, at Lauzerte, with the Arpegi duo, based near Montpellier, composed of Nathalie Mengual, on guitar, and François Ragot, on cello. The union of the strings will move you, with a colorful evening, with Hispanic colors, on pieces by Tarrega, Nazareth, Machado, among others.

In Castelnau-Montratier

The programming of the 2022 festival is intended to be eclectic. The evening of tuesday 16 august, at the Castelnau-Montratier village hall, will be romantic, with the performance of Roustem Saitkoulov, a Parisian pianist of Russian origin. He comes from the prestigious Russian piano school. Having obtained several international prizes, he has performed at the Salles Pleyel, the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris, at the Wigmore Hall in London, among others, while performing with the greatest orchestras, such as the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. At Castelnau-Montratier, he will play, in the middle of the public, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin.

The only outdoor concert of the 2022 festival will be held on thursday 18 august, at the cloister of the Ursulines, in Montpezat-de-Quercy (withdrawn under the arcades if bad weather) with a duo where you can discover the power of the harp associated with the flute. Isabelle Moretti is a figure of the harp today, participating in the biggest festivals. In Paris, she premiered Bruno Montovani’s Harp Concerto “Free Dance”, with the Paris Chamber Orchestra. His sidekick, Juliette Hurel, 1st prize for flute at the Conservatoire, has been solo flute at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 1998. This prestigious duo will play Fauré, Gaubert, Debussy, Ravel…

Closing concert in Montcuq

After several years of absence, the Quercy Blanc Festival, which has never stopped, even at the height of the Covid in 2020, with a single concert, returns to Montcuqfor the closing concert, the tuesday 23 august, at the St-Privat church. With François Salque, on cello, Samuel Strouk, on guitar, and Jérémie Arranger on double bass, the group “Loco Cello” will break down the boundaries, between jazz, world music and classical music, on melodious and swinging rhythms, with original pieces and arrangements.

Each of the 4 concerts will begin at 9 p.m., and will be priced at €18 (reduced price at €10).

The Quercy Blanc Festival, as its president Mireille Pinatel points out, can only take place thanks to the support of its partners, including the Community of Communes of Quercy Blanc, the communes of Lauzerte, Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc, Castelnau Montratier-Ste Alauzie and Lendou-en-Quercy, where the association has its headquarters, as well as the Departments of Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot.

The Quercy Blanc Festival has forged a partnership with “Vignobles et Découvertes”. Wines from the Coteaux du Quercy, from the two departments, will be offered for tasting to the artists.
