This week in the Afro-Club, an influx of new releases in the platinum hit led by Azawi & Fik Fameica, Sidiki Diabaté, Khaligraph Jones & Dax, Dieyla, Nonso Amadi, Queen Rima and finally Vano Baby.

Queen Rima has become one of the figures of Guinean dancehall in recent years. She is part of this new generation which imposes itself in this Jamaican style that the public particularly likes in Guinea. His new song, Boss Upis taken from his EP Temperature released on March 12. Queen Rima values ​​her status as the queen of dancehall, not hesitating to use her two-tempo flow to stand out from her colleagues. She sings mainly in Soussou, a language to which she adds some lyrics in English. Marie Toulon of her real name had won the trophy for Best dancehall artist in 2017 at the Simandou festival.

With this new track, Nonso Amadi has remained faithful to his old habits: writing love songs. foreigner starts heavy with drums and vocals, but breathes a little in the verses; which allows me to sing calmly and express the reasons for my absence and the fact that I needed to exteriorize my emotions before returning to a chorus heavily rhythmed by the drums” he told the site Complex Canada. In Senegal, the revelation Dieyla stands out as the spokesperson for the new female scene with its title Diayoulen
At the moment, we only talk about her in the country of Teranga. This is the one who was crowned Best Female Artist and who won a Tube of the Year award in Senegal in 2021. Dieyla Guèye, simply called Dieyla, is already compared to her eldest Coumba Gawlo. One thing is certain, it is well on its way to marking future generations. Thanks to her very special voice and her sartorial elegance, Dieyla Guèye, who made her debut on the show Sen Petit Gallé in 2014, finally conquered the Senegalese general public. In June 2021, his song Mangui Baxx (I feel strong, in Wolof) has had more than 10 million views on YouTube to date. Then she continued with Deko Woyofal. Again big score: nearly 9 million views. In the title Diayoulen, Dieyla pays tribute to the women of Senegal in a purely mbalax style. Khaligraph Jones has just released his third studio album 4 years after the success of his previous opus Testimony 1990. Entitled Invisible Currency, the rapper invited the big names in East African urban music: Alikiba, Prince Indah, Mejja, Rudeboy, Adasa, Scar Mkadinali and Dax. No less than 17 titles that Khaligraph Jones took great care to record in Nairobi. He has also received congratulations from all his peers, but also from the critics who salute his remarkable work. Just for the song Hiroshima, Khaligraph Jones smashed the record for rhymes that follow one another at high speed on a trap production. It is obvious that it restores its letters of nobility to this art which has been supplanted on the Continent by the advent of Afropop in recent years.

In Mali, Sidiki Diabaté definitely back in business with Diarabi Nene Bena
Sidiki Diabaté seems to have come back in the odor of sanctity in his country and with his public, after his trouble with the law. On March 1, he put online Diarabi Nene Bena, his new music video which has been warmly received. The least we can say is that the fans have responded since to date, the video has far exceeded 3 million views on YouTube. A clip directed by the talented Steven Awuku and in which we can see Sidiki Diabaté appearing on the arm of Carmen Sama, the famous widow of DJ Arafat. Sidiki Diabaté undoubtedly honors his word, he who had promised during the funeral of the Ivorian artist to always take care of his family and to remain close to his wife and children. Musically, the song Diarabi Nene Bena does not address a revolutionary theme since it is about love and fresh water, but the title has a particular flavor that leads to song and dance.

In Uganda, superstars Azawi and Fik Fameica shine even brighter in the video Majje
Azawi struck again. The beautiful Ugandan has signed up with a brand of beer, of which she is the official voice of the new advertising campaign in Africa, to promote her clip Majje. It’s about his emotional collaboration with local rap star Fik Fameica. This duet is the fifth extract from his first album, African Music, critically acclaimed. The video of Majje is of exceptional cinematic quality. Nothing could be more normal since it was directed by Sasha Vybz, a seasoned filmmaker whose reputation is second to none. Azawi has pulled out all the stops and appears in the streets of Kampala like an African queen whose excellent black shines with a thousand lights. Beyond the glitz and glamour, the video is mostly set in the ghetto to balance the narrative between success and the process that leads to success. Azawi is a living testimony to the text of his song. She who rose from anonymity to stardom by signing to a blue chip label, before producing one of the most listened to albums on the continent in 2021. It’s the ultimate hustlers’ anthem.
